As part of my e-commerce design studies, I worked on a project focused on WooCommerce, a leading e-commerce platform for WordPress. The goal of this assignment was to fully understand the capabilities of WooCommerce by setting up a functional online store, integrating product listings, payment options, and creating a user-friendly experience. This project allowed me to develop valuable skills in managing and customizing WooCommerce.

About GROW
GROW is an online shop I created, focused on smart home fitness equipment. The idea was to help people train effectively, even with limited space. GROW’s target audience is 20-45-year-olds who care about their health and want high-quality fitness options that fit seamlessly into their modern homes. The goal? To make staying fit simple, efficient, and enjoyable by offering smart, space-saving equipment. Here’s how I brought GROW to life, step by step.
Diving into the Research
To kick things off, I immersed myself in research to understand the home fitness landscape and what would make GROW stand out. I looked into competitors, audience needs, and the kind of equipment that would appeal to health-conscious, space-limited individuals. This research laid the groundwork for everything that followed, helping me define the unique value GROW would bring to its users.
To visualise GROW’s needs I created Lisa, a 27-year-old project manager who’s busy, health-conscious, and lives in a small apartment. Having Lisa as a reference point made the design process more focused on GROW’s potential customers.
Wireframing in Figma
I opened Figma for the first time and began wireframing. Having experience with Adobe XD, I was already familiar with the basics of designing in this type of program, which made adapting to Figma straightforward and enjoyable. I mapped out GROW’s structure, planned each section, and focused on creating a seamless user flow from one area to the next.
Designing the Look and Feel
Once the wireframes were in place, I moved into designing GROW’s visual identity. I wanted the site to feel fresh, modern, and motivating, with a color scheme and style that would appeal to young professionals. I started experimenting in Figma with fonts, colors, and layouts to create a look that felt clean, welcoming, and professional.
Building with WooCommerce
For the development phase, I used WooCommerce to bring GROW’s design to life as a functional e-commerce site. With this platform, I set up product pages, configured the shopping cart, and implemented a streamlined checkout process. This phase involved customizing WooCommerce settings to fit GROW’s needs, ensuring a smooth and intuitive shopping experience for users.
